Here begins my series on Mexican Catholicism as witnessed in San Miguel and Guanajuato. There were so many churches and pictures -- I didn't do a very good job of documenting what was what. Every church had at least two Jesuses in glass cases, one peaceful one and one horror-movie one. Ofrendas, staffed by eerie-looking dolls dressed to reflect their causes, were everywhere.
I do know that this Jesus was in Iglesia de San Rafael, which adjoins La Parroquia in San Miguel de Allende. There were some spectacularly gruesome life-size dioramas in there, but it was too dark for me to take decent pictures.
